range of plugs from Nightpark Nursery

About Nightpark Nursery

Nightpark Nursery was started on a Greenfield site in 2001. The field itself was known as ‘The Nightpark’, it was a sheltered field and was the resting place of choice for the animals on the farm- alas, it is no longer a place of rest! Thérèse Duffey had the botanical interest while husband Michael did all the construction.

We have a dedicated team of staff- Rita looks after plant orders and Fee is in our Propagation department. Thérèse spends her time on sales and production planning while Michael concentrates his efforts on the Technical issues.

We grow in excess of 300 species of plants. Our range includes grasses, sedges, herbaceous perennials, wildflowers, bulbous plants and woody species.

We specialise in ornamental plants from seed primarily for the wholesale trade. Our range includes natives from New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Chile and the Himalaya along with native Wildflowers from the local area. We obtain seed from seed houses worldwide but we also collect approximately 50% of our own seed, thereby ensuring it’s trueness to type and quality.
We are well known for our excellent clone of Uncinia rubra. We grow in excess of 50, 000 of this species. Other specialities include Stipa gigantea, Hardy Cyclamen, and Eucalypts. We are continually adding to our list.Order for dispatch These include, and .

About our product

We supply plants as plugs and also as 9cm liners. Most 9cm liners are contract grown and so need to be ordered in advance. We aim to have a wide range of plugs available year round.

Our plugs come in several sizes but 90% of what we sell is in a 45mm Elle pot. We produce our Elle pots on site using Bord Na Mona Compost. Our current compost is a peat-reduced mix. We add Bark and loam to the mix to ensure optimum plant health.

For smaller orders, we are now able to offer competitive courier rates for both UK and Irish delivery. These preformed plugs are very easy to handle making potting a quick operation. They can be potted into a range of pot sizes from 9cm through to 2l depending on the crop and the timing.

We also offer machine sown seed of a range of plants in a 104 cell tray. Plants in this range include Aquilegia, Geum, Verbena, etc.

Sheep & goats are replacing gas lawn mowers:
Because gas-guzzling, air-polluting lawn mowers contribute to global warming, there is renewed appreciation for less manicured, less contrived and more natural landscapes. In fact, prescribed grazing is making a come back. Prescribed grazing can be effective in controlling noxious weeds, reducing the incidence and intensity of wildfires and improving wildlife habitat and plant diversity, especially around residential communities.
Prescribed grazing uses sheep and goats separately or in combination, depending on the management objectives and type of vegetation
